Dressing the Graves is a unique and very moving ceremony to honour and reflect upon our ancestors buried in the cemeteries of the Copper Coast. Family nominate an ancestor and during the ceremony, a story of that ancestor’s life is read out, and flowers, prepared by local school children, are placed on the grave by the nominator or a relative.
Nominations are now open
Closing date for nominations 31 October 2022
Confirmation sent to nominators 30 November 2022
The theme for this event will be Mine Captains, however nominations for other than Mine Captains are also very welcome. We hope to have at least one Mine Captain for each of the main cemeteries. A maximum of 8 ancestors will be honoured at each cemetery.
